If you love the movies, there is no better park for you to visit in
Orlando than Disney's Hollywood Studios. You may recall that this park
used to be called MGM Studios. You'll feel like a Hollywood insider when
you walk through this park that looks like an actual movie set
everywhere you look. You'll even have a chance to be part of the action
and participate in live shows and parades.
Disney's Hollywood Studios is packed with things to do, especially if
you like thrilling rides. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror goes beyond
thrilling and takes it to bone chilling. The Tower is designed to look
like a hotel. One can imagine that horrible things happened in this
hotel. Check into the Hollywood Tower Hotel, but notice how the property
is in ruins. Walk through the lobby and you can't help but notice the
distant screams of other hotel guests. The line leads you to an elevator
which is supposed to take you to your room on the 13th floor.
Unfortunately, on your way up, lightning strikes the hotel and causes
the elevator to go haywire, taking you up, up, then dropping you
suddenly into a free fall. The ride is run by computers and each ride is
programmed to send the elevator up and down randomly, so no two rides
are the same. It's truly one of the best rides at the park, and maybe at
any of the Disney parks.
There are other great rides at Hollywood Studios, too. The Rock n Roller
Coaster starring Aerosmith is one of the fastest roller coaster rides
you will ever find. I'm talking 0 to 60 in less than 3 seconds and
that's how the ride starts! It is not a ride for the faint of heart. The
band Aerosmith is incorporated into the ride, but who has time to enjoy
their music when you're in fear for your life? Okay, it's not that
scary, but what a rush!
If small children will be accompanying you to the park, take them to
Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure. Based on the movies Honey I
Shrunk the Kids, guests can walk through 11,000 feet of space where
everything is humongous. You'll find out what it must feel like to be an
ant. Kids love the oversized grass and items left behind by giant
people.
Another great attraction for smaller children is Toy Story Mania.
Especially with Toy Story 3 coming out in theaters soon, they will want
to do this. The main attraction here is a 3D ride that simulates a video
game. The difference is, you are inside the video game and you get to
shoot at targets. It's really fun just walking in line to get to the
ride, too. You'll feel like you're a toy in Andy's room.
One of the newest, biggest hits of Hollywood Studios is the American
Idol Experience. You've heard of the television show; now you can be on
the show. Be an audience member and vote on live performances done by
guests like you. If you want to be one of those performers, you can
request to be one in advance and if you are chosen as a winner for the
day, you earn an actual ticket to audition in front of real American
Idol judges! If you make that cut, you could actually be on the show as
a contestant. It's a once in a lifetime chance, especially for people
who can't get to the regular city auditions. Even just being in the
audience and getting to vote on the live performances is a lot of fun.
So, now you have another park that you must visit at
Disney World. There
is a lot more to do there than what I've described here. Too much to
write in one article, but at least you now have some idea of attractions
you would like to see when you come.
