Yesterday Universal Studios Orlando made several announcements about some exciting changes coming to the theme park. We are of course excited to see these changes and hope you might be interested in a Universal Studios package.
The park will debut a new daily parade featuring Dora & Diego, Sponge Bob Square Pants and Despicable Me floats that are all independent of each other so they will also be featured throughout the park when the parade is not running.
A new night time end of the day show narrated by Morgan Freeman featuring movie clips projected on water falls and fireworks.
The Spiderman ride through gets newly animated sequences produce in 3D and stunning ultra high resolution grpahics. Park offcials say that the technology is “mind boggling”.
Despicable Me gets a new show and the kids can participate in a dance party at the end.
Last but not least, City Walk will be adding a challenging Mini Golf course! Dinner, movie, show, mini golf, night life, concerts, karaoke and the list goes on.

Lets start of with this being a leap year and to celebrate Disney has announced that Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom will remain open 24 hours! From 6am on Feb. 29 to 6am on March 1. What fun would that be for us older kids!

Opening in phases starting in 2012 guest to Disney’s Magic Kingdom including a Little Mermaid Ride, a second Dumbo Ride, and an indoor roller coaster. Friday was the first day of fall which barely went noticed around here in sunny Florida. We usually know it’s fall because the retail stores tell us so with Halloween decorations. The weather around here has little to do with the calendar but one noticeable change is the slow down in tourism but this is good news for you. Fewer visitors means lower prices and smaller crowds. This is an ideal time to visit Orlando with many things happening. We are in full swing with Halloween, fall inspired menus, booming nightlife and excellent package rates. Here’s my top 5 to ponder.
1. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party – this is a special ticket event happening select days at the Magic Kingdom. Trick-or-Treat, special Halloween stage shows, Hallo-Wishes (Halloween fireworks), dancing and attractions with little to no wait time.
2. Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios – haunted house like only Universal can make them, stage shows, attractions, special Halloween/Movie inspired drinks and plenty of nightlife at CityWalk.
3. Food and Wine Festival at EPCOT with free concerts from big names acts like 38 Special, Air Supply, Boyz II Men and many more. World Showcase becomes a dining paradise with cuisine from all over the world. No reservations needed and your Epcot ticket is all you need.
4. LegoLand Florida opens October 15th! We don’t know what to expect yet but if you are here in Orlando you can be 1 of the first to know.
5. SeaWorld Spooktacular – this year there is a Halloween breakfast with Sesame street’s “The Count” along with other characters from sesame street. Select weekends also include special stage shows, trick-or-treat and a DJ playing family friendly dance music.

Chances are you are thinking about fall Holiday plans and are dreading the infamous family feud that is your typical Thanksgiving dinner followed by hours of watching football while uncle John tells the same story for the 100th time. There are plenty of places to get your turkey on at. Here are just a few ideas but remember, you need to book now before it’s too late. Besides, you need to be prepared for the question “where are we having Thanksgiving dinner this year?”.
1. Probably the most Thanksgiving’y place of all is Liberty Tree Tavern located in The Magic Kingdom. Mickey and Minnie with a few friends dressed in their colonial costumes serving american favorites family style. What is “Family Style”? This just means that you do not order from a menu but there also is not a buffet. Trays of turkey, ham, carved beef, mashed potatoes, greens, salad, bread and more just keeps coming to your table. When you run out, more magically appears. Ya, this is not a weight watchers meeting.
2. Grab a ButterBeer at the Three Broomsticks restaurant in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. No, there is no alcohol in the ButterBeer and yes this is a quick service restaurant but I don’t think your kids will mind either! Spend the day living the movie and then feast like a wizard.
3. Makahiki Christmas Luau (yep, I said Christmas) located in SeaWorld Orlando. This is a fantastic way to celebrate the Holidays Polynesian style. Excellent food, interpreted Holiday music, festive costumes and best of all, Luau dancers!
Make this the year you create a new Holiday tradition and say goodbye to the argument about which parents house to visit.
One of the greatest treats for me as child was Halloween. I don’t remember much about my childhood but I certainly remember Halloween with my mom. She couldn’t wait to decorate and counted down the days like it was New Years. I can remember so much about Halloween I often wonder if my kids will be the same. I take my kids to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween because it truly is a great party and my kids love showing off their customs which have also evolved into a family tradition. Here are some tips that might help you enjoy the party just a little more.
1. The party starts at 7pm but your Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party ticket gets you in starting at 5pm (sometimes even sooner). You can avoid turnstile congestion by getting there early.
2. The party goes until the witching hour (12 am) so make sure your ghouls get plenty of daytime rest.
3. Don’t be to worried about topping off your candy bag at each candy station… you can top it off with good stuff just before existing the park.
4. Mickey and Minnie are in their own Halloween costumes so this is a must-get picture. Ask the PhotoPass photographers are happy to use your camera as well.
5. This might be Florida but there is still a chill in the air sometimes so bring something a bit warmer just in case.
6. Don’t miss the special parade (Boo-to-You) and FireWorks (Hallo-Wishes). Pick a spot at least 45 prior to the parade and keep in mind this is probably where you will also watch the fireworks from. This is is limited hard ticket event so the crowds won’t be as bad however, the best locations do fill up rather early.
The count down to fall has begun. The stores are starting their back to school specials and so are we.
